Shattered Dreams

Shattered Dreams

It's like a shot, right through your soul.
As if someone tells you to forget your goal.

The reason is you are now stuck in hell.
Do these words seem to ring a bell?

All the anger builds up within you,
Is there anything at all you can do?

To watch your dreams snatched away,
To never again think of the "one day."

The hurt inside just keeps getting worse
It doesn't matter how much you rehearse.

You'll never ever get it right
All because of that fateful night.

Just watch your dreams go up in smoke,
All your life has just been a big joke.

And so here falls all my tears,
As I tell you all my fears

  1. I love this poem for many reasons, but I'll tell you the main one. It's not gushy/ranty about a guy. It may be about a guy, I don't know. However anyone can relate to it. Writing poetry that can stir emotion while also being open to interpretation is masterful, at least in my opinion.

    1. Thanks so much Jess. Nope, not about a guy at all. It was about so many things all wrapped into one. I wrote it when I felt I had lost everything during a dark time after several bad choices.

But you are right, it could be about a guy, it could be about anything really. I'm glad you liked it :)
